Architecture

Structure, allocation and budgets in one model.

Decompose the system into components, allocate functions to them, and draw SysML block, internal block and parametric diagrams from the same items. Roll mass, power and cost up the structure and track technical performance measures.

What you can do

Asset diagrams

Show the child assets of a system connected by conduits. Add new or existing assets, mark external assets, and generate a system requirements document from the diagram.

Block definition diagrams

Blocks with ports, values, constraints and operations. Composition is decomposed by and association is connected by, with multiplicities on the ends.

Internal block diagrams

Nested parts with typed and conjugated ports, connectors and the items that flow through them. A capacity check turns a connector red when its items exceed its capacity.

Parametric diagrams with units

Constraint blocks hold equations such as P_load <= P_gen. Values are read with their units and converted; adding mass to power is reported as a dimension error. Solve All previews every change.

Allocation

Link functions to the assets that perform them. Allocations roll up: actions performed by any part count for the parent in Physical I/O diagrams.

Budgets and TPMs

Roll mass, power, cost or data rate up the structure with contingency by basis and required margins. TPMs show the estimate against plan, threshold and objective, with breach and at-risk status.

How it works

  1. Decompose the system. Open Architecture → Asset Diagrams, create a diagram for the system and add parts with + Asset ▾ → New Child Asset….
  2. Define blocks. Switch to the Block Definition Diagram and add ports, values and operations from the palette.
  3. Connect the parts. In the Internal Block Diagram, drag between ports to create connectors and add the items they convey.
  4. Add the numbers. Set capacities and data rates, and solve parametric constraints with units.
  5. Track budgets. Open Budgets & TPMs, select the root asset and quantity, and enter each part's value with its unit.

Build the architecture from your model.
