Holarch

Model the whole and its parts.

Holarch is a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) workbench. Take a system from stakeholder needs to verified design in one connected model, in your browser.

Holarch project home for the CubeSat EO-1 demo: items that need attention, such as suspect links, failing tests and high risks, above progress cards for each lifecycle area

Model-based systems engineering

One model behind every view

Requirements, functions, components, interfaces, tests, risks and decisions are entities in one model, built on the Lifecycle Modeling Language (LML) and linked by typed relationships. Documents, diagrams and matrices are views of that model. Change an entity once, and every view that shows it updates.

One Holarch model behind every viewLML classes in one model: a Requirement is traced from a Statement, verified by a Test Case and satisfied by an Action. The Action is performed by an Asset and generates Input/Output, which a Conduit connected to the Asset transfers. A Risk is mitigated by an Action and a Decision resolves the Risk. Documents, FFBDs and action diagrams, SysML BDD and IBD, N-squared and the interface register, the RVTM and matrices, the risk matrix, Gantt and Kanban, and DoDAF and UAF products all read from this model. AI assistance

AI that works inside your model

The AI reads the entities and relationships of your project and proposes changes to them. You review each proposal before it applies, and one undo reverses it.

  • Turn a requirements document into functions and an FFBD. Extract functions with their allocated requirements, then get a suggested flow.
  • Check and rewrite requirements. An AI quality review judges correctness, feasibility and necessity and offers rewrites, shown word by word.
  • Ask questions about Holarch and your model. Answers link to the entities and Help topics they use.
  • Draft requirements, test cases and risks from the items you select.
  • Generate clipart for a whiteboard when the library has nothing that fits.

Your own key

Use a key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini or Azure OpenAI, or your organization's key.

Preview first

Every AI change is previewed and applied as one undo step. Risky changes start unticked.

Restricted projects

Projects marked CUI, ITAR, export controlled or classified block AI.

AI off when needed

Instructors and team admins can turn AI off for their class or organization. Coming soon

The lifecycle, in order

From needs to verified design

01

Needs and requirements

Write requirements in documents. Check their quality, trace them, and manage approvals and baselines.

Learn more about needs and requirements →
02

Behavior

Decompose functions, generate FFBDs, and run action-diagram simulations.

Learn more about behavior →
03

Architecture

Allocate functions to components. Draw SysML block, internal block and parametric diagrams with units.

Learn more about architecture →
04

Interfaces

Keep an interface register and generate ICDs.

Learn more about interfaces →
05

Verification

Plan tests in the Test Center. The RVTM shows what is verified and what isn't.

Learn more about verification →
06

Risk and decisions

Run a risk register, risk matrices and weighted trade studies.

Learn more about risk and decisions →
07

Plan and deliver

Use Kanban boards, Gantt charts, budgets and TPMs.

Learn more about plan and deliver →
08

Frameworks

Produce DoDAF and UAF products, including an imported OV-1.

Learn more about frameworks →

Collaboration

Work together

  • Share a project and give each person a role: owner, editor or viewer.
  • Edit at the same time and see who is in the project.
  • Work offline. Changes merge when you reconnect.
  • Every project keeps earlier versions you can restore.

Whiteboards

Sketch first, then link

Sketch concepts on a whiteboard with more than 6,000 icons, military symbols and systems-thinking shapes. Then link sketches to model items.
