Run a Risk Register with the MIL-STD-882E Scale

Set the project risk scale, record and rate risks, plan mitigations and follow each risk down over time.

  1. Open Risk & Decisions → Risk Register and click Edit Risk Matrix…. Choose the MIL-STD-882E preset (or Default 5 × 5) and adjust the likelihood and consequence definitions and the level of each cell. The scale applies to the whole project.
  2. Click + New Risk. In the inspector, set Probability, Consequence, Status, Owner, Handling (Accept, Avoid, Transfer, Mitigate, Watch), Trigger and Need-by Date. To draft risks with AI, select an item and choose ✦ AI ▾ → Generate Risks….
  3. Link each mitigation: add the action or task to the risk's mitigated by relationship, with Start and Duration so the plan has dates. Set the residual probability and consequence expected after mitigation.
  4. Review the register: sort by Level, filter by level, status or handling, and edit Status, Owner and Handling in place.
  5. Open the risk's burn-down (Burn-down beside its name). Record Snapshot stores today's rating; Mitigation Plan… shows the planned step-down at each mitigation's completion date.
  6. See all risks on the matrix with Risk & Decisions → Risk Diagrams, and download the register with Export ▾.
