Turn Requirements into Functions and an FFBD
Derive functions from a requirements document, arrange them into a flow, draw the FFBD and produce the tables and report.
- Open Behavior → Functional Analysis, or in the document choose More ▾ → Functional Analysis (functions, FFBD, tables)…. Pick the document in the scope list.
- On the Functions tab, click Rule-Based Extraction… (one function per functional requirement), or choose ✦ AI ▾ → Extract Functions with AI….
- In the preview, rename, merge or split functions, reassign requirements by number, set parents and the top-level function, then Apply. Each function becomes a numbered Action and each requirement is linked satisfied by its function.
- On the Flow & FFBD tab, select blocks and use Wrap in AND, Wrap in OR, Wrap in LOOP, Unwrap and + Branch, or Edit as Text…. ✦ AI ▾ → Suggest Flow with AI… proposes an order, branches and loops.
- Click Open FFBD to see the diagram; set the orientation and start/end labels there.
- On the Tables tab, copy or download the requirements table and the functions table (Copy, CSV, XLSX, DOCX). Run Quality Check fills the Score column.
- Click Assignment Report (DOCX) for one Word file with the requirements table, the FFBD and the functions table, with captions.
- Check the Coverage tab for requirements without a function and functions without a requirement.
Running the extraction again updates the existing functions instead of adding copies; they keep their names unless you choose Rename.
