Getting Around Holarch
The window has four parts: the navigation rail on the left, the top bar, the page, and the inspector on the right. Open editors appear as tabs under the top bar.
Navigation rail
- The groups follow the systems engineering lifecycle: Home · Needs & Requirements · Behavior · Architecture · Interfaces · Verification · Risk & Decisions · Plan & Deliver · Frameworks · Whiteboards. Click a group to open its overview page. The current group lists its pages under it.
- Badges count problems in a group: suspect links and overdue TBDs (Needs & Requirements), TPM breaches (Architecture), failing tests and model check errors (Verification), high risks (Risk & Decisions).
- At the bottom: Database (every entity), Diagrams (every diagram), Settings (Preferences, AI Settings, Schema), Help (Help Center, Keyboard Shortcuts, LML Primer) and Manage Projects.
- Three states: expanded (labels and pages), icons only (point at an icon to see its pages; a dot marks a group with problems) and hidden. Press ⌘\ or use the button at the bottom of the rail to cycle them. The choice is kept; without a choice the rail shows icons only at 1280 px and narrower.
- Peek: when the rail is hidden, point at the left edge of the window, or click the rail button at the start of the top bar, to slide it in. It hides again when the pointer leaves.
- Keyboard: ↑ ↓ move between entries, → opens a group's pages, ← returns, Esc closes a list.
Top bar
- Breadcrumb: the project name (click it for the project menu: pinned and recent projects, Pin This Project, Create a New Project…, Project Version Control, Restore Earlier Version…, Manage Projects), the group and the page title. Page titles appear only here.
- Page actions: the buttons of the current page, for example Export ▾, + New ▾ or Run Tests. The primary action is last.
- Problems: the number of open problems; click it for the list. Each entry opens the page that holds the data.
- Search (⌘K): the command palette. Type to find pages, items (by name or number), documents, diagrams, whiteboards and actions such as New Requirement…, Export RVTM (Excel) or the AI tools of the page. ↑ ↓ move, Enter runs, Esc closes.
- ✦ AI: the single AI control. ✦ AI opens Ask AI; its ▾ lists the AI tools of the current page, then AI Settings…. Pages without AI tools show only ✦ AI. In narrow windows it shows as the sparkle and ▾. See Ask AI and AI Tools.
- Save status, Share and account: Saved, Saving… or Not saved — retrying (point at it for the time of the last save; click it to retry a failed save); Share for members and roles; your initials for Account Settings and Sign Out.
- Undo / Redo (⌘Z, ⇧⌘Z), ? (help for this page), theme (moon/sun), density, focus mode and the inspector button.
Editor tabs
Diagrams, documents, whiteboards, entities, charts and presentations you open stay as tabs under the top bar, per project, and come back after a reload. Close a tab with × or a middle-click, drag tabs to reorder them (⌥⇧← / ⌥⇧→ from the keyboard), and use the ▾ at the end for the full list, Close Other Tabs and Close All Tabs.
Inspector
- Selecting an item on a page (a Database row, a document item, a diagram shape, an RVTM or register row, a matrix header) shows its details on the right: attributes, relationships, comments and metadata. Diagram and whiteboard selections show their properties there.
- × or Esc hides it; the selection stays, and the edge tab Inspector · … reopens it.
- Pin (⌥⌘\) keeps it open even when nothing is selected.
- Drag its left edge to resize it (280–600 px), or focus the edge and use ← →.
Focus mode
⌘. or the focus button hides the rail, top bar, tabs and inspector so only the page remains. Esc or Exit focus at the top brings them back.
Home and overview pages
- Home shows health cards (suspect links, overdue TBDs, failing tests, TPM breaches, high risks, model checks, save status), one card per lifecycle group, your recent work and next actions.
- Each group has an overview page: live numbers for the group, a card for each of its pages, and its recent diagrams with links to each diagram type. Click the group in the rail to open it.
Theme and density
The moon/sun button switches between light and dark; the density button switches between comfortable and compact rows. Both are also in Preferences, where Browser Theme follows the system and Automatic density uses compact rows at 1440 px and narrower. Diagram canvases, slides, charts and exports keep light-theme colors in either theme.
